Estée Lauder to Establish Research Lab at Farmingdale State, Boosting Jobs and Student Support

Estée Lauder is set to open a state-of-the-art research laboratory and office at Farmingdale State College’s Broad Hollow Bioscience Park this spring. The cosmetics leader has inked a five-year lease for 40,000 square feet of space, which will accommodate up to 80 employees, including 31 new hires. This move is expected to inject $1.75 million into the college, with a portion allocated for scholarships for students in the Honors Program.

The new facility will focus on advancing research in skincare, makeup, and fragrance products. Estée Lauder plans to integrate students and faculty into its research efforts, providing hands-on training for lab technicians and creating a pipeline for future talent. Additionally, the company will offer internships and job opportunities to Farmingdale State alumni.

The partnership represents a significant boost for the Broad Hollow Bioscience Park, which has struggled since the departure of OSI Pharmaceuticals. This new development will enhance the park’s visibility and provide crucial opportunities for local students and businesses. Empire State Development has supported this initiative with $1.2 million in tax credits for job creation and $750,000 for park improvements.

This collaboration marks a promising new chapter for both Estée Lauder and Farmingdale State College, aiming to foster innovation in the life sciences and strengthen the regional economy.
